It is a great thrill when a childhood hero becomes a personal friend. Back in the early 1990s, John V Ulakovic met and partnered up with Ray Harryhausen to develop and release a number of his bronze sculptures. That partnership became a multi-decade friendship.
John sculpted a life size bust of Ray in homage to not only his creative achievements but also their friendship. This bronze captures Ray in middle age when he accomplished some of his greatest films and at the time John first became aware of his genius when growing up. The base of the bronze is wrapped in bas relief highlighting 21 of Ray’s most famous creature creations.
